Beskrivelse
Here at the burial ground at Mada, people from a nearby village or farm buried their dead during both the Early and Late Iron Age. The burial ground consists of 14 graves in total. During the Iron Age, the dead were often burned at the stake and then buried together with personal belongings and other grave goods in an urn. A burial monument, such as a cairn, a ring of judges or a stone, was then erected over the grave. Tridents were built throughout Sweden during the Iron Age. Judges' rings get their name from the folklore that the stones were ancient courthouses. Nowadays we know that domarrings are graves built during the Early Iron Age. The burial ground is surrounded by beautiful hilly pasture with elements of birch, oak and juniper. Perfect place for a picnic and just far enough from Tranås for a bike ride.
