Beskrivelse
The varied natural forest with old trees in different stages of decay provides living space for a variety of natural forest-favored species from mosses, fungi and lichens to insects and birds.
The nature reserve is located on the northern shore of Örvattnet and consists largely of swamp forest, wetlands and hardwood-rich mountain slopes. Today's great wealth of deciduous trees, especially older aspen, is a result of the area having burned in the past, with subsequent deciduous growth.
Örvattnet was set aside as a nature reserve as part of a larger project supported by the EU's LIFE nature conservation fund. The aim is to protect valuable natural forest. The area is part of the EU's Natura 2000 network of valuable nature sites.
Animals and plants
Candelabra fungus, wood moss and lung lichen thrive here. The ageing deciduous trees are important foraging and nesting environments for woodpeckers. All of Sweden's woodpecker species have been found in the area.

Rutevejledning
Örvattnet Nature Reserve is located in Värmland County, Arvika Municipality, 10 kilometers northeast of Arvika. The area is located between lakes Racken and Mangen. The roads in the west are closed with road barriers and the roads in the east are of low standard and can therefore be difficult to access.
Regler
In the reserve it is forbidden to:
- drive vehicles or ride horses,
- bring an unleashed dog or cat,
- damage living or dead trees and shrubs
- picking or digging up vascular plants, mosses, lichens or wood fungi
- damage or remove any natural object or surface formation or damage the ground cover
- steaming animals, damaging their nests or breeding grounds or otherwise disturbing wildlife
- start fires
- camping,
- erecting hides or similar structures
- mark out tracks or organize competitions
- putting up notices or similar.
Without the county administrative board's permission, it is forbidden to:
- make organized use of the area for teaching, tourism or similar purposes, carry out scientific or other research.
