Beskrivelse
From the top of Mammasberg, the visitor has a mile-wide view of the surrounding landscape.
The area as a whole is very hilly and is dominated by two marked ridges running north-south; Mammasberg itself in the west at 560 meters above sea level, and a lower ridge in the eastern part of the area. The reserve area's hilly terrain provides great variation in the forest.
On the top of Mammasberget, and the eastern ridge, there is a sparse and lean forest. On the lush slopes, on the other hand, there is a 140-year-old, highly mature and coarse spruce forest with elements of deciduous trees such as aspen, birch and willow. The oldest forest is relatively sparse and in patches there is plenty of hanging lichen.
The reserve was established to preserve an area with natural forest-like old coniferous forest and typical species associated with old forest, dead wood and deciduous trees. The aim is also to maintain the silence and wilderness feel of the area. The area is part of the EU's ecological network of protected areas, Natura 2000.
Animals and plants
Less common species that thrive in the area are: three-toed woodpecker, gray woodpecker, lung lichen, brown-powdered needle lichen, old spruce cabbage, knotweed and spiderwort.

Rutevejledning
The reserve is located in Värmlands län, Torsby municipality, 9 km south of Bograngen. From Bograngen: drive the village street west towards Norway. Turn left (south) and drive about 4 km to Skråckarberget. The public road ends here. Visitors to the nature reserve continue on the main road, south through the village. Follow the forest road south for about 3 km. The road splits at a Y-junction. Keep left along Dypån. Continue about 2 km to the parking lot that is common to the Soienmägg and Mammasberg nature reserves.
Regler
In the reserve it is forbidden to:
- collect invertebrates such as beetles, snails and butterflies
- collecting mosses, lichens and wood fungi
- damage or remove dead wood such as lying and standing dry trees and dry branches
- driving vehicles
- bring an unleashed dog,
- use the area in an organized manner for commercial purposes without the permission of the county administrative board, and for schools and institutions to regularly use the area to carry out scientific or other studies.
