Lållansbergets naturreservat

Spruce and pine and rare species A beautiful rocky pine forest grows on the top of Lållansberget. This is also the location of the small, fine tarn shown in the picture above. Below the summit, the forest changes from pine to spruce forest. There are old, large spruces and many dead trees, both standing as dry branches and lying as flames. Thanks to the large amount of dead wood, many interesting and rare species have been found here. Just listen to these beautiful names - brown powdered needle lichen and scented leather.

Moss-rich by a beautiful stream At the foot of the mountain is a narrow valley, where the spruce forest grows healthy on the slopes. At the bottom of the valley is a stream called Lållansbergsbäcken. There is a carpet of soft and lush mosses and plenty of blueberry bushes. There are also species with beautiful names here - wavy silk moss, shadow blue lichen and old spruce lichen. The valley is also home to the very rare blue truffle.

Finnish names in old Finnmark The area belongs to Dalarnas Finnmark. This is the name given to the often inaccessible, wooded areas that were populated by forest Finns from eastern Finland in the early 17th century. The Swedish state wanted tax revenue and offered land if the land was cultivated. The immigrant Finns practiced swiddening.

The name of Lållansberg comes from the Finnish word Lohilampimäki. Lohilampi means salmon iron and mäki means hill, but is often translated as mountain in place names. Lohilampimäki then becomes Laxtjärnsberget. It is believed that Finnish had ceased to be a living language in these parts already in the first half of the 19th century, and the name of the mountain was eventually changed to Lohilampimäki.

Hike through the area on the trail from Värmland There is a trail that runs through the southeastern part of the nature reserve. The trail starts at Fjällrämmen in Värmlands län, about a mile south of the nature reserve and then continues further north. It is well trodden and is therefore probably still used quite often.

In the reserve it is not allowed to...

• damage growing or dead - standing or fallen - trees, stumps and bushes, with the exception of collecting loose, small, dry branches and twigs for the purpose of making a fire
• driving a motorized vehicle on bare ground.

**Without the permission of the County Administrative Board, it is also not permitted to

• dig up plants, pick mosses, lichens and wood-living fungi or collect animals (such as insects).
