Beskrivelse
Occasionally overgrown old spruce forest on a western slope.
The nature reserve contains an old spruce forest that has not been affected by modern forestry. The soil is moist and there are several small bogs. Here and there are deciduous trees such as aspen, birch and willow. In order to preserve the deciduous trees, some of the spruces will be ring-barked so that they die.
The reserve was established to preserve the high natural values of the forest. The area will now be allowed to develop freely. The natural water balance of the soil will not be damaged.
Animals and plants
The nature reserve contains many good habitats for rare mosses, lichens and fungi. Examples of habitats are trees of different ages and sizes. Other examples include slow-growing trees and dead trunks in various stages of decay. Some of the species that thrive here are the violet-gray thorn lichen Bryoria nadvornikiana, the shadow blue lichen Hypogymnia vittata and the lung lichen Lobaria pulmonaria.

Rutevejledning
Location: Värmlands län, Torsby municipality, about 2 km west of Långbergets sporthotell, about 10 km north of Sysslebäck. To get to the reserve; follow road 62 north from Sysslebäck about 8 km. Turn right to the east at the sign Fageråsdammen. Follow the road and turn right and go about 1.2 km towards Vålhallen. From the next crossroads towards Vålhallen, use a compass to go south to the reserve. The road barrier is closed.
Regler
In the reserve it is forbidden to:
- collect invertebrates, such as insects, snails and butterflies
- collect mosses, lichens and wood fungi
- damage or remove trees and shrubs, including dead wood such as lying and standing dry trees and dry branches, and damage or remove dead trees or tree parts,
- use the area in an organized manner for commercial purposes without the permission of the county administrative board, and for schools and institutions to regularly use the area to carry out scientific or other studies,
- drive motor vehicles.
