Beskrivelse
In the 1550s, Gustav Vasa had a hospital for the poor moved from Riddarholmen to this location. In a letter, the king complained of "a mighty evil stench" that he wanted to get rid of in the city's fine neighborhood. The building that stands here today was built in 1719-25 and is all that remains of a group of nursing buildings that stood here. The architecture is characterized by both Baroque and Rococo. The 18th century walls lean alarmingly in places. This is because the house is built on a site where the stream that once connected Hammarby sjö with Saltsjön was located.
The hospital's activities have meant a lot to the development of Nacka as a whole. The institution was given large areas of land, where mills and various industries were later allowed to establish themselves. The hospital's operations moved to Danvikshem in 1915.
