Beskrivelse
Försjön's limestone coniferous forest is unique in Kalmar County. It is home to many unusual species of fungi that form mycorrhizas with pine and spruce. The rich diversity of demanding fungi means that the reserve has one of Kalmar County's most interesting limestone coniferous forests that we know of today.
Unusually rich nature
There are a number of red-listed fungi here with imaginative names such as bitter thorn mushroom, copper spindle, and thorn finger mushroom. Many of these species are found in the older spruce forests, but many also thrive in the thinner pine forests up on the heights. In addition to mycorrhizal fungi, there are also many other exciting species such as wood moss, wool tick, rope sedge and dwarf hemlock.
The whole area has very hilly terrain with fault lines and valleys. The lowest parts are at the height of the adjacent lake Försjön, about 108 meters above sea level, while the higher parts are about 40 m higher. The area has a long history as forest land and there are few cultural-historical remains, although tar burning and charcoal burning have occurred.

Rutevejledning
The nature reserve is located a few kilometers south of the community Järnforsen in Hultsfred municipality. There are no through roads in the area and the reserve has no parking.

The right of public access does not apply in full in the nature reserve.
In Försjöns kalkbarrskogs nature reserve you may not:
- Take off and land aircraft such as drones.
- Harm or disturb mammals and birds.
- Climb trees with bird nests.
- Be near birds of prey's nests, roosts and burrows.
- Make fires other than in your own barbecue or outdoor kitchen.
- Breaking twigs on living and dead trees and bushes
- Felling or damaging trees and shrubs, living or dead.
If you have obtained permission from the County Administrative Board, you may:
- Pick mosses, lichens and fungi growing on trees unless you are only taking a small part for species identification.
- Digging or pulling up plants by the roots.
- Collect insects and other small animals with traps that kill.
- Organize sports competitions and events.
- Put up signs, posters, boards, markers, markers, orientation checks or art objects.
Other legislation on what you can do in the forest and land also applies in the nature reserve.
