Snöttuberget naturreservat

Snöttuberget is part of a large mountain area with many peaks just over a mile northwest of Dala-Järna. The reserve's large forest stands have emerged after a forest fire in the early 1900s.

Lightning struck and ignited the forest 100 years ago On the southern slope of the mountain stands a deciduous forest, dominated by birch but with a large element of aspen and also pine and spruce. It is a so-called deciduous burn, caused by a forest fire that raged in the area between 13 and 22 July 1914. It was lightning that started the fire. Source: County Administrative Board
