Atjiken – Torpet, Urskogsleden

The hike can start at Atjiken after road 1077 or at Torpet in the eastern part of the Marsfjället nature reserve.

If you start at Atjiken, you walk through old spruce forest that is characteristic of this area. After about 2 km you pass a bridge and can now see Holmsjön. The trail then continues on the south side for 4 km when you come to another bridge. Here you can see the remains of the old dam that was used to dam the lake during the period when rafting and bog hunting were practiced in the area.

Soon you will cross another bridge and continue your walk on the western side of Lake Matskan. Both lakes have plenty of trout, perch and char. Fishing is possible throughout the Matskan area if you buy a state fishing license. You can do this at NatureIT.

After a walk of just over 9 km you pass the Matskanån, also at this bridge there are remains of an old dam. Now you are at Matskananstugan and here is the opportunity to spend the night, the cottage has 8 beds. Or you can continue to Blerikstugan, a hike of 6 km.

The trail largely follows the river and there are many fine rapids with fine fishing for grayling. The beaver has its lair here so look out for beaver lodges. On the marshes you pass, there are species such as marsh willow, willowherb and black hay. In the forest, there are good opportunities to come across lichen jays, crossbills, great tits and three-toed woodpeckers. If you are really lucky, you might see a bear. Blerikstugan is located by Lake Övre Bleriken and has 4 beds.

The hike between Blerikstugan to the end of the road and the trailhead at "Torpet" is 3.5 km and partly follows the river and the harness between Övre and Nedre Bleriken.
