Beskrivelse
The hiking trail to Bullerfallet is signposted from the parking lot in Kanan. In the dense vegetation around the Matsdalsån delta, it can sometimes be difficult to see the path. In the flat terrain, the bridges are sometimes washed away during the spring flood. This may mean that the Matsdalsån has to be forded in some places. The spruce forest changes higher up into mountain birch forest.
There is a barbecue area at Bullerfallet. Visitors should be careful not to walk too close to the edge of the falls, where the cliffs drop steeply. In wet weather, the rocks can be very slippery due to the fog.
At Kanan, Matsdalsån has a richly branched delta in the mountain birch forest. The vegetation is very lush, with man-high tolta, Nordic wolfsbane and angelica. The several kilometer long Bullerfallet ends in a deeply cut canyon where the water falls into some large pots.
Possible to continue up on Rödberget
The tour can be extended by continuing through the mountain birch forest to the peculiar serpentine flora on Rödberget. There is no marked path from Bullerfallet to Rödberget. The area around Bullerfallet is slightly hilly, so the easiest way is to follow Bullerfallet upstream and then turn west towards Rödberget.
Rödberget is visible as a bare, red patch of serpentinite rock in the mountain birch forest. Rödberget has an interesting flora, including the small red-violet Lapland alpine rose and several species that are only known from serpentinite rock, such as the cold mountain heather.
