Description

The mountain station consists of a main building and four guesthouses with a total of just over 100 beds. The timbered main building from 1918 has a timeless charm and soul in the building, furnishings, and open fireplaces.

Our KRAV-labeled restaurant serves locally hunted game meat, char, and smoked whitefish from the lake below the station. Of course, we also always have good vegetarian and vegan options. If you'd rather cook your own food, we offer a well-equipped self-catering kitchen with a refrigerator to store your groceries during your stay.

Getting to Saltoluokta Fjällstation is easy. In the summer, we run the boat M/S Langas daily across Lake Langas, tailored to the bus schedule to make it as smooth as possible. In the winter, you can cross Lake Langas along the marked ice road, about 3.5 kilometers long. We offer snowmobile transportation in connection with departure and arrival times for the bus. Read more information about schedules and ticket prices under "Transport".

A visit to Saltoluokta Fjällstation gives you the opportunity to experience one of the finest places in the Swedish mountain world. We are located right on the edge of the vast Laponia world heritage area, with Stora Sjöfallets and Sarek national parks nearby. The Laponia area is an incredibly scenic world heritage site, but it's also known for its strong Sami cultural influence.

Many people come by us as part of a longer hike. Perhaps you started in Kvikkjokk and have been hiking north for a few days, passing through Aktse and the famous Skierfe cliff with a view of Rapadalen? Or maybe you started in Ritsem or Suorva and hiked through Sarek National Park, finally reaching Saltoluokta for a well-deserved shower and a good dinner? You can also start in Abisko, follow the King's Trail south to Vakkotavare, and then take the bus to Kebnatsbryggan and Saltoluokta. Or why not just come here for a few days - eat well, enjoy beautiful views and a wood-fired sauna after a day trip on the mountain?

Regardless of how you want to enjoy Saltoluokta - welcome here!
