Description

Leavas Sámi village has a summer camp close to Alesjaure. Socially structured, a Sámi village or siida is a reindeer foraging area, a group for reindeer herding and a corporation working for the economic benefit of its members all in one. If you are here at the beginning of July, there is a good chance to participate in the Sámi calf marking. The waterfall on the east side of Alesjaure is also worth a day tour. The hiking extends past the Sámi village and onward several kilometres. After a long day in the mountains, the warmth of a wood heated sauna and the cold of a dip in the stream make for a wonderful combination.

Many find their way here during the winter to go telemark skiing on the nice slopes in the area. For those searching for bigger challenges, there are also demanding day tours to the nameless peak at 1,835 m.a.s.l., located 7 kilometres east of STF Alesjaure. The advanced mountain climber can look to the peak of Kåtotjåkkatoppen, 1,991 m.a.s.l., as a demanding alpine ski tour.

This is how it works in a mountain cabin
Our mountain cabins offer a simple and authentic stay in multi-bedded rooms with self catering. The rooms are different sizes with bunk beds and usually heated by gas stoves. On site you will be greeted by a cabin manager. As a guest you chop wood, fetch water from the stream or lake, wash up and clean up after youself.
