Description

The trail goes across relatively easily-hiked terrain with few hikers. A tent is required, as well as experience in mountain hiking and in navigating in mountainous terrain. This trail needs restoration and clearance. In places, the trail is difficult to detect. Be alert so that you follow the summer trail from Vuoskkojávri eastwards. There are many quad bike tracks in the area, as well as marked winter and summer trail is stop the hiking trail follows the South side of Lake Unna Vuoskkojávrráš, across the bridge at the East part of the Lake, and then on eastwards through birch forest with occasional areas of bare mountain. Just before the halfway point to Järämä there is stopover cabin at Čuolmmajohka stream. After this shelter the trail continues mostly above the tree line. You have to wade across the river Vállasjohka. Be careful and do not wade when the water level is high. From the low fell Skártačohkka, the trail starts to descend. Along the last stretch, the trail passes close to the reindeer enclosure, and finally reaches birch forest just before Järämä, a settlement belonging to Saarivuoma Sámi community. The settlement lies at the end of the gravel road.

Järämä lies 180 km from Kiruna and 55 km from Övre Soppero. A road leads here (the E45). The bus company Länstrafiken Norrbotten operates the route Kiruna-Karesuando. From Övre Soppero you can take a taxi to Järämä.
