Beskrivelse
Elleholm church is a small half-timbered church building dating from 1705 on an island in the mouth of the river Mörrumsån. It only has room for 90 people and is popular for christenings and weddings. There was a medieval church on the same spot but this fell into disrepair when the town of Elleholm lost its town charter in the seventeenth century. The small font dates from the seventeenth century and the dominant crucifix on the north wall is sixteenth century. The church’s treasures also include a copy of Christian III’s bible printed in 1550, the first bible in Danish. Only a few copies are preserved, one of which belongs to Elleholm church and is now preserved in the church archive in Mörrum. Source: Church of Sweden
